Interaction work for music creation in XR
My interaction work for PolysoundXR. A finalist prototype built for the XR Design Challenge 2024.
This is from the team build of Polysound XR an immersive music creation prototype built for the XR Design Challenge ‘24 in which we were a finalist. My job within the team was to work on the main build with Tomas focusing on visual & interaction design and this is the work I produced.
Object Interaction

Stem object interaction
The most vital part of the user interface was that it didn't get in the way of playing an instrument and was easily accessible in that you can quickly and easily to turn stems on and off for live performance. Settling on object slightly larger than the human hand seemed like the right decision and utilising an outline glow and plexus effect meant that during performance you can clearly see what stems where playing at that given moment.

Stem node selection
A series of stems for each track are accessible and easily changeable from the floating reference interface via a tap on the main node which then provides a swipeable UI you can swipe through with your finger and select.

Next steps
Everything is working smoothly in terms of the app but there are some hardware limitations that i'm currently working on for smooth uninterrupted playback.
