Looking back on an older project (Pareidolia) and continuing my research into Pareidolia. This time instead of blasting light into a volume I approached the project a bit more simply by creating generative art through the form of sculpture created by noise. The results are surprising the same considering the distinct difference between density within the volumes.

In summary; Pareidolia often leads to people assigning human characteristics to everyday objects. This form of apophenia is quite common and for the purpose of this exploration I focused on visual output rather than aural perception; utilising light & volume in the the Arnold renderer.** I wanted to breathe new life into the work instead of letting it just sit on a hard drive so I have repurposed it into its own gallery. I built and modelled in Cinema4D before bringing it into unity and then eventually into spatial.io.

Creating generative art pieces in the form of sculptures through the use of noise. They became endowed with structure with dimensions that provide enough topology and shadow to
provide the reader with a visual canvas to allow their third eye to visualise.

I decided to make the work more personable so I created an augmented reality application that hosts the volume texture pieces from the original project as well as the new noise approach so that a user can study the pieces further within their own space. This alone was a challenge, a very successful one.

This experiment uses light & volume as well as noise. The UI must reflect all of these aspects so providing glasslike gradients on a clinical light background with noise presented in their true form as sculptures. Also added subtle topographical lines to represent real world space. I feel I hit a clean minimal balance with a hint to what is to come within the experience.
